Lifestyle | Am I An Influencer Or Blogger?

This is a question I ask myself since the word influencer got a place in our vocabulary. I started with my blog five years ago and I see big differences from the moment I started until today. I still enjoy writing a blogpost, take pictures and hit the publish button. This hobby is something I would like to keep! But even I cannot deny that the blogging world is changed, this change you either love or hate it. And I have certainly mixed feelings about it!

These thoughts started for me since I noticed that my blog doesn’t get the interactions I use to have. Follows, comments and likes are pluming down and I don’t like it! I’m not hungry for them however, they do show appreciation for my hard work. These interactions are to me proof that I did a good job, I feel appreciated that I get them. You can say that it feels like getting an A for your exam. A good feeling, right?

Yes, I do understand to keep those interactions you should have a strategy. You should know when to post, which hashtags you should use and know all the algorithms of all your social media! Does this not sound to you as an annoying person yapping into your ears? It makes me only feel pressured, doesn’t feel like fun to me. This is the change that I don’t like in the blogging world. To stay relevant, it has to be bigger and better. Or you are just like a needle in a ‘’influencer haystack’’. Don’t let me speak about the dramas that comes with it! #jamescharlesisoverparty #mannymuaiscancelled and many other hashtags that came to life. Ugh, the dragging down of each other, those feuds! To me it is just a waste of time. We all are in the same boat, why is it so hard to mind your own business and be kind and respectful towards each other? And I’m not only talking about these beauty gurus. How about those Instagram influencers who feel too high of themselves to answer a simple blogging related question, because they think that you want to steal their secrets?

Don’t get me wrong, I know how it feels to work hard for something that you put your heart into. And that you want to keep some secrets to yourself because of it. I definitely don’t blame you for this! It is your right to do so however, chill. No need for attitudes! I’m a firm believer of the give and take life motto. Nothing wrong answering a question about which filter you use for your Instagram feed.

To answer my own question, am I an influencer or a blogger? I liked to be called a blogger. I understand the influencing part when it comes to blogging. I write about brands that I love and are bought by myself, but I also worked with brands who sponsored me. I create an opinion about the product, my opinion can be followed or not. Because of it, I influence too. Why am I calling myself a blogger? Because in the five years of my blogging life, I never ‘’took’’ something I don’t believe in. I never got paid for something, I never felt pressured to write a fake blogpost about it. I’m to down-to-earth for that, thank God! Who wants to live in a plastic fantastic world? Not me. I call myself a blogger, because in the five years I blog I have not created a following that are so big, that I can make a brand for myself to sell my own merchandise. I call myself a blogger, because I still write blogposts. My blog is my own creative world, where I can be creative on my own terms and still have a good conscience.

What is your opinion about influencing?

Event Report | BuyLau – Influencer Closet Sale.

I went with my sister to the influencer closet sale hosted by Laura Ponticorvo. She is a Dutch-Italian media personality. I was invited by the sweet owner of LabelDeluxe.nl. Not only do I feel blessed for getting the opportunity to attend an event, I also get to meet new people and I love this the most. So, back to the event loves, clothes! Clothes! Clothes! I wandered in a stalls Walhalla of different goodies. From makeup to hair extensions to cupcakes. It was a mix of everything!

They thought about everything. A DJ fixed the music, a small food truck was available and plenty photograph backgrounds and boots to shoot pictures. As the name of the event says it: there was a lot of Dutch influencers holding their closet sales. I saw some familiar faces who I sometimes watch on their YouTube channels. Some I didn’t have a clue, but it was nice to see a glimpse of their closets.

The event had a dress code, it was black and white with a touch of gold. On my Instagram you could see the white that I wore with the touch of gold. Of course, I wore my Just Cavalli golden heart bracelet!

I saw many colorful clothes and this bohemian style caught my eyes. Same goes for denim, I love denim! A good pair of jeans just never goes out of style.

Of course, I visited the stall from LabelDeluxe. All those arm candies were a joy to look at! Did you know that they also sell Furla, Versace and more luxury items? Definitely your time and purchase worth. Not only does a good jewelry piece add flair into your outfit, it stays always as a classic item in your jewelry box if you decide not to wear it.

Have you ever attended an event?

Fashion | My Go To Summer Essentials.

Spring and summer are my favourite seasons. It goes so far that I literally wear oversized clothing during autumn and winter every single day. Nothing wrong with that, I can wrap myself in my oversized sweater like a burrito. However, it isn’t much exciting as spring and summer clothing! Aside from floral dresses and stripes, am I sharing with you Loves my go to summer essentials that I always wear during summer.

The weather in the Netherlands has bipolar moments so, my number one item is a blazer. It’s perfect for those warm/cold days if you wear a jacket it’s too warm and if you go without one it’s too cold. Same goes with ballerina’s flats, without a doubt you will find a black pair in my shoes collection. As you all know me Loves, I like details! I was pleased to see the golden details on the back of the flat heel. Don’t forget the denim jeans, we ladies have a love and hate relationships when it comes to finding the perfect fit jeans. When we have one, we hold onto it like Frodo and his ring. Right Loves?

Sunglasses an item that is fashionable and practical in one. Perfect way to hide those bags under your eyes because you enjoyed the typical summer night a day before. Jewellery also belongs to my summer essentials list. Especially golden jewellery because it matches with a tan perfectly!

Share with me your essentials. Maybe I forgot a key piece!

New In | Balmain X L’Oréal.

I was so in love with the Balmain X H&M collaboration that this match made in heaven with L’Oréal got me shook! I even pre-ordered it. When I got it, I was so curious about it that I opened it immediately! But, my first impression about it was: it looks good. Yes, just good. Even though from the outside it looks chic and edgy, just like all things from Balmain and I truly like that vibe. I suddenly felt a ‘’oh’’ feeling. The lipstick package felt fragile like, if I dropped it on the floor it would break. It even came with a small damage onto the cap so my hyped feeling slightly changed. But I learned don’t judge a book by its cover

When I opened it the first thing that you will notice is the smell. I loved it! As I told in my first impressions blogpost, I buy when it comes to makeup with my nose. Since I bought the lipstick online was the smell a pleasant surprise! The smell reminds me of autumn, a wood scent with a twist of a scent from lilies. It even sounds like a fairy-tale.

The lipstick comes with different shades and I couldn’t choose. The shades are so daring and so fierce! The opposite of me. I watched Balmain’s promo videos about it online, more than once and I still couldn’t decide. At one moment, I thought let me choose a shade that I wouldn’t chose easily. So, I chose Confession. It comes almost close to a nude shade and as you know me Loves, have I a love and hate relationship with nude colours. I am glad to find out, when I swatched it on my wrist that the shade has a peachy colour as a sub tone.

When I applied on my lips, the creamy lipstick went smoothly over them. The lipstick gives a matt effect which makes it long-lasting. I am happy to say that the lipstick has a place between my MAC Collection and high end favourite Chanel lippie!

Which shade from the collection would you chose Loves?

Lifestyle | My Social Media Habits.

I am without a doubt addicted to my phone. Even as a blogger, am I addicted more than ever. I mostly use my phone for blog related work than for personal use. Whenever you find me on my phone, nine out of ten times I check behind the scenes of my blog. That will be looking at my statistics, comments, answering them, like pictures, read other blogs, follow them and comment on their post. And this is only the usual small tasks that I do. When I’m done with the small tasks, I look online to get inspired for upcoming blogposts. I get this inspired itch mostly from other blogs that share them or online fashion and beauty magazines. I write my thoughts about it on the notes app that iPhone has.

The main habit that I have when it comes to my social media, is that I use punctuation marks with every sentence I write. I’m not a grammar freak, but it looks better. The second habit I have is that if I made a typo, I remove the whole post. This happens more on my Twitter. Yes, I know my lovely followers still understand what I’m saying, my perfectionism speaks louder at that moment.  I also have a neat tic when it comes to using emojis. Blog related post are marked with the black mark emoji and a row of black emoji squares comes in front of my hashtags. On the end of the hashtags I placed the black heart emoji. This is my go to manner on my Instagram. My other go to for my feed, is that the pictures I post mostly have a white background if not, like an outfit post, I give my pictures a white glow just to have an ordered feed. In the beginning of my blogging career I just placed pictures randomly. Since I use my Instagram as a portfolio am I more concerned about the layout. I don’t want it to look too perfect, we already have too many of those feeds. So, I wanted to have a messy-white background-matched feed and I like it!

On my Facebook page, I share automatically new blogposts and some statements and that’s about it. I think this is because I don’t really have the hang of it yet. I just don’t use it as much as Instagram. Same goes for my Bloglovin’ account. I probably should interact on them more. Snapchat (SaidaSnaps) and Twitter are my most used social apps when it comes to sharing personal things. First, the Snapchat filters are so fun to use! Second, Twitter is the perfect place to share my thoughts about college, working out and another chit chat. I also like to retweet other fashion, beauty and lifestyle tweets.

Everybody has an own way on how to use social media, sometimes it scares me because of all the things you can see. The good, the bad and the ugly but, we cannot ‘’live’’ without it. I certainly am.

Feel free to follow Loves. Comment below your habits, would love to read them!
