LIFESTYLE | Club 30! Perks Of Being In Your 30s.

Hello September! Hello birthday month! Hello, making it a month to remember! Am I making you excited too? I bet I’m not the only one who gets this feeling, when you’re alive and well and your birthday month is coming up. However, I do believe some of you could have a mixed feeling about getting older. Even I don’t feel like a kid in a candy store over the years I’m getting older. Since years ago, I don’t celebrate my birthday in the sense of throwing a big party and invite whoever I can and of course, want. Celebrating my birthday means to me, celebrating being grateful. Let me take you to the perks aisle of being in your 30s.

I don’t know about my fellow 31 years clubbers, but I truly believe in: getting older means getting wiser. I’m not talking about not making mistakes or following strictly the rules of life and not coloring outside the lines, not that it is a bad thing. I’m talking about having a different mindset from what you had when you were in your 20s. Those mistakes become learning moments. Those strictly living by the rules of life becomes having experiences in live. Coloring inside the lines becomes thinking outside the box.

Because of this mindset, your confidence keeps growing whenever your life experiences become learned experiences. Old situations become better to handle and new situations become easier to start with. Not only how you adjust to situations and your emotions, your thoughts and opinion changes when your getting older. Don’t forgot the relationships you have. In terms of love, family and friends. Aware and unaware you hold on too who are important to you and who brings you joy and love. You will not tolerate childish behavior, disrespect and ignorance. It will be easier to cut ties. When you do: hello drama free life!

Holding to things that makes you happy is also something that you are going to do. It will become something that you truly treasure. As I have written earlier, every year I’m celebrating being grateful. It became a tradition in my life to go out to dinner with my family. Celebrating them for always being there for me. I love them around me! My birthday is also a moment to reflect about myself. How I did the last couple of months. I’m grateful about what I achieved with my studies and blog. I’m going to graduate next year, and I still love my blog after 7 years. I have collaborated with brands that I’m very proud of! I also celebrate my mental health. Sounds crazy, but it helps a lot when I look back to moments that was hard for me and be proud about how I conquered it. I also gift myself perfume, because it is well deserved. Why perfume? Because that beautiful bottle is pretty to look at and the scent represents your lovely and sexy self.

The aisle of perks is coming to an end. Welcome to getting older and less f*cks to give!

Event Report | Glamour NL Beauty Festival 2019.

It has been a while since I have been to the festival, but I’m still excited about it! It seems I have a every year turn back to this event policy. I liked it in 2018, 2019 and definitely got it this year on my planning.

The festival was powered by Zalando Beauty, which means a lot of new introductions of brands and their latest collections. Also, there were brands that was familiar to me and they showed their newest goodies. If you know me, I fall easily in love only by looking at their brand appearances. Yes, judging a book by its cover!  You can imagine I felt in my element. The venue was like last year at the Tropen Museum in Amsterdam and ladies: yellow and red marble with golden details everywhere! Perfect for shooting your pictures for Instagram. My influencer thoughts are speaking now, feel free to judge. Sorry not sorry!

There were stands of different brands showing their new collections and shared their latest news. You could experience the new product by looking, touching and by using their testers. There was also the possibility to buy products with a discount. Perfect for when you want to try something new! I also took a moment with my sister to pierce our ears. The stand was there, and my sister pushed me over the edge, I don’t regret it at all! I always wanted a second hole right next to my hole in my earlobe. I had that one since I was a kid and on my 30th I had the nerve to pierce a second hole.

You also could attend workshops about how to apply eye makeup, foundation and many more. There were masterclasses from Dutch influencers about how they use Instagram. I found my way already, but it was interesting to listen. I was impressed by the masterclass from power ladies who are leading ladies at their businesses. It was definitely a festival for beauty and brains!

During breaks you could buy healthy snacks and drinks. Or you could go and have fun at the beauty products grabbing machine and other fair like games. I got a makeup touch up by a makeup artist from NARS. The most important thing I did is having fun with my sister and a dear friend!

Event Report | ”Tick Tock…It’s Luxury O’ Clock.”

What I love the most about blogging is meeting new people. Especially when they welcome you with open arms. This is how I felt by the invite from lovely Mentari, the owner of Labeldeluxe.nl. The press event was hosted in Amsterdam at a pop-up store. The shop was small, I loved it. It gave me warmth and a personal feeling. It looked also very chic, what you could expect from luxury stores.

Speaking about luxury, when I look at the watches from Label Deluxe, I wander myself in luxury heaven. Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Karl Lagerfeld and Furla are some names you can find at the web shop. As you know me, I’m a sucker for classic items and I assure you you’ll find them at Label. Not only they have watches, but also jewelry. Which not only looks beautiful on your wrists, fingers, neck or ears but even in your jewelry box! It is also the perfect gift to give to loved ones. With Christmas right around the corner, is a timeless piece a worthy gift to give. It stays forever and never goes out of style. Absolutely the definition of long lasting!

Luxury equals popping bottles! Even though I don’t drink alcohol, these bottles are definitely eyecatchers. Especially now that there is a beautiful story behind the glitter bottles. The ingredients are vegan and organic. You also don’t need to be worried about the glitters on the bottles. The sparkle is eco-friendly! Which means biodegradable. Not only does Foodboard.nl think about the environment, but also the people. When you purchase the limited-edition bottles, the profit goes straight to a specialist center for people with COPD. It stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. The disease narrows the lungs, you literally want to gasp air. The bubbles of the chardonnay or prosecco represents air (bubbles) we can’t live without. I couldn’t agree more with their feel good, look good, do good motto!

Beauty Brands Agency was also present at the press event. I loved so much talking to the owner! She told me about the agency and the brands her agency represents. What I love about their work, is that they have a unique way to reach their brands and consumers. Their 360° brand activation strategy is a perfect approach for it. What I also love, is that they name the brands love brands. The brands are from all over the world and Beauty Brands Agency shares their beauty secrets.

When I think about luxury, I think about gold. The Devine Sensation body and facial sprays from Beaudelor.nl has literally golden leaves for a natural glow. I tried it at the event, I’m hooked! Imagine my happiness when I found an sample in the goodie bag. The key ingredients are gold and cashmere, definitely two ingredients to feel luxury on your skin.

The beauty world is very innovative. I was surprised to hear that Nomige.com works with your DNA and your own personal lifestyle to make products that exactly matches your DNA and lifestyle. Sounds so interesting! Using science for beauty is without a doubt the definition of luxury. Don’t be surprised about the price tag! Then again, you’ll have something unique based only on your skin type.

I had such an amazing time. Especially because I went with my big brother. After the press event we had dinner and fun as dessert. It was a perfect day!

Event Report | BuyLau – Influencer Closet Sale.

I went with my sister to the influencer closet sale hosted by Laura Ponticorvo. She is a Dutch-Italian media personality. I was invited by the sweet owner of LabelDeluxe.nl. Not only do I feel blessed for getting the opportunity to attend an event, I also get to meet new people and I love this the most. So, back to the event loves, clothes! Clothes! Clothes! I wandered in a stalls Walhalla of different goodies. From makeup to hair extensions to cupcakes. It was a mix of everything!

They thought about everything. A DJ fixed the music, a small food truck was available and plenty photograph backgrounds and boots to shoot pictures. As the name of the event says it: there was a lot of Dutch influencers holding their closet sales. I saw some familiar faces who I sometimes watch on their YouTube channels. Some I didn’t have a clue, but it was nice to see a glimpse of their closets.

The event had a dress code, it was black and white with a touch of gold. On my Instagram you could see the white that I wore with the touch of gold. Of course, I wore my Just Cavalli golden heart bracelet!

I saw many colorful clothes and this bohemian style caught my eyes. Same goes for denim, I love denim! A good pair of jeans just never goes out of style.

Of course, I visited the stall from LabelDeluxe. All those arm candies were a joy to look at! Did you know that they also sell Furla, Versace and more luxury items? Definitely your time and purchase worth. Not only does a good jewelry piece add flair into your outfit, it stays always as a classic item in your jewelry box if you decide not to wear it.

Have you ever attended an event?

Event Report | Glamour Magazine NL X Rabobank.

‘’It’s all about the money, money, money!’’ A subject that concerns us all. Some live paycheck to paycheck, some live like royals and some cannot even come near a price tag. We rule money and money rules us. So, I was happy to get invited by GlamourNL to attend the event hosted by GlamourNL itself and Rabobank, a Dutch bank. My first thought was: perfect! Maybe I’ll hear great tips for saving money. The method I have for saving money is still going strong, but let’s learn more.

As expected, GlamourNL hosted the event in a beautiful venue in Amsterdam at the Vondelpark. Without a doubt I took pictures and shared them on my Instagram. I was excited about, not only I wanted to be informed about the ins and outs of money, but I also went to it with Esra. Going to an event was a first to her. I loved how excited she was, I believe that she learned a lot from it. Definitely an educated fun day!

We have been told by editor in chief Anke de Jong what to expect during the event. It started with a #bossbabe from Rabobank, who spoke about investing, interest, ratios and all money subjects you can think of. I was more interested in advice on how to save money and different ways to earn money. I have heard the usual, don’t smoke, don’t go to coffee to go shops. Save that money in a jar! After the informative part came personal stories from behind the scene #bossbabes from GlamourNL. I loved hearing their personal stories! How they save money, how did they make good investments when they bought their houses. Their experience felt real, because one day in the future I want to think about doing a mortgage, or not. Either way hearing their experiences helped a lot. It was also a pleasure to hear how they earn an extra next to their jobs. Selling online your stuff was one of them, which made me think that I should do it more often, then just once in a while. I’m sure I got plenty of things to sell that I can make someone else happy with!

Entrepreneurs Ron Simpson from The Avocado Show and Noor de Groot of Queen of Jet Lags were also speaking at the event. I loved hearing how their dreams became real by jumping into their ‘’dare it’’ motivation! At the end, its indeed the best motivation to make your dreams come true.

I also loved hearing from Ron that once you get, give back. Help others in the best way you can. A perfect saying to finish the event of….And this blogpost.

Event Report | Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam. #MBFWA

Fashion week Amsterdam has come to an end and I still have an ecstatic after feeling. This was my first fashion week attendance and I loved every bit of it. I went to the catwalk show from Sophia Bentoh and Sunanda Chandry Koning. Both designers showed their collection with a message and it was loud and clear.

Sophia Bentoh went back to her roots. Her collection Ibileye which means ‘’beautiful as a precious piece of fabric’’ is a contrast of African prints meets pop/punk. It was beautifully outspoken on the catwalk. It is a mix and match of colours and clothing pieces for men and women. She draws the prints by herself and prints it with a screen-print on the clothing. Not only she makes figurative prints from African origin, but also symbols that we all know like peace signs, spikes and safety pins.

Sophia comes from a creative family. Her father is a sculptor and her mother a doctor that makes her own clothes. Her passion for fashion started right from her home. With her personal memories, culture and hard work: Ibileye was born. I like that she got inspired by her roots. As a Moroccan, I can truly appreciate traditional clothing that represents my culture. Because of this I felt a connection with her collection.

The models she chose for the catwalk are individually unique, not the models you used to know. Same goes for the models from designer Sunanda. Her clothing collections comes with messages like make love not war and gender acceptance. She uses many twins as models with the thought to represent connectivity in her clothing. She showed her capsule collection Behemoth. Unfinished clothing pieces were at the end free to take because she stripped her models into white tops and underwear. Expect for two twin models who she let walk topless on the catwalk. It was not clear what to do with the clothing that she left. I looked it up online and find out that the unfinished clothing was free to take to make it your own by her or yourself. I like the thought behind it, nothing is perfect. Make it your own. Too bad it wasn’t clear for the audience.

I had such a lovely day! I went with my sister and made it a girl’s day out. It was interesting to experience the event. Even if you curious just to see how a fashion show looks like, you would be impressed by the music you hear and the people around you.

I had the change to go to Glamour Magazine Fashion-Vintage Live event. The Dutch Glamour has a cross-media expansion that’s called Fashion-Vintage and Glamour Concept Store. On both sites you have the possibility to buy and sell your clothes and even at the Concept Store you can pitch your brand to get featured! Amazing right?

As a subscriber to their magazine I had the opportunity to go snoop in many goodies from Glamour readers, many bloggers, Glamour workers and famous Dutch people. As I was wandering through the stands I saw nice goodies but also many goodies that sellers are selling them for prices that I wouldn’t buy it for. To be honest.

I did like snooping trough the goodies from well-known Dutch stylist By Danie. I was curious what she wears, especially in her free time. Too bad many things of her did not fit me, our shoe sizes don’t match. The faux fur letters on the pink sweater from Glamour Concept Store caught my eye. So fluffy!

As I was looking my eyes out during the Fashion Walhalla I got a bit thirsty so I was pleased to find a smoothie bar. The juices were made just the right way, not to sour. While I was sipping on my juice I saw these beautiful kimonos. I like to prints on it, what a Summer vibe! Glamour was even so thoughtful for their visitors. You could feel like a princess because there were make-up artists happy to make a perfect look for you.

Everything comes to an end. When I wandered a last round trough the stands I went with a good feeling about the day home. My ticket was included with goodie bag. And I was glad to find lovely goodies in it! I like the to-go cup and planning to do a review about the Aveda Body Salt.

To be continued Loves!

I was invited to the exclusive H&M beauty event. Such a beautiful experience to attend too! Let me introduce you to the new beauty department of H&M, I promise you, you’ll love it!

H&M is well known from their varied collections, they have applied it to their beauty department too. From skincare to make-up brushes you’ll find it all!

Many colours dominate the shelves, a truly colour Walhalla. What I like about the beauty goodies is they are well pigmented and it stays long when you apply it. Perfect for my up-coming autumn make-up looks! Besides they are make-up candy’s to your eyes. The chic packaging will stand beautiful on your vanity.

I wandered around and took the opportunity to look for an eyebrow kit. The Espresso brow kit caught my eye. I’m going to use it for new looks this autumn. Since I already wanted to try contouring, these blend brushes came in handy. They feel so soft and look professional on my stand. The quality is good too, they don’t lose any hair.

Do you know the new department of H&M too?

Event Report | DRKS. Dreams Do Come True.

Last Sunday I attended the DRKS Bloggers Contest. I got impressed from the moment I walked into the trend show of DRKS until the end.

The hosts gave me and my sister a warm welcome. I imagined myself in a jewellery Walhalla! As I tried the jewellery on, with the help of the cute host, I felt like a princess!

MoiDRKS3

When the trend show started and the models walked on the catwalk too show the beautiful pieces, I did not get bored. So many various items that make the jewellery complete. Freshwater pearls, crystal and many more! Except nickel, you cannot find it in the collection. This makes it unique!

As I get to know more about DRKS, I knew this brand is a success and it will stay a success. The story behind DRKS is a dream came true. Miriam Derksen the designer and founder of DRKS ended her job as a lawyer to go after her dreams. With her 15 years of experience on designing she created her own style.

While trying the jewellery on, I noticed that the jewellery are so light to wear! She thought about this so well, wearing heavy jewellery, especially in your ears can be so annoying. Amazing that she thought about this little detail!

IMG_1621

What I love about DRKS is that Miriam has an eye for details and a thoughtful thought towards her production and collections. Not only is the jewellery handmade in the Netherlands, she wanted her creations to be pure and honest! No mass production in low wage countries! How amazing is that?

It was so nice to meet her! She took her time to give answers to me and my sister’s questions. She even gave me advice to talk with other designers for a possible collaboration. Talking about women empowering!

Dutch Model Event Report. | A New World!

IMG_0232 IMG_0236 IMG_0302 IMG_0245 IMG_0365 IMG_0455 IMG_0404 IMG_0498 I attended the Dutch Model Event as you can see. It’s an event that visitors and future models can attend to get casted for fashion shows. That can be for haute couture and commercial. You also can get casted for television as in commercials and acting roles.

Ofcourse I was very excited! Like it was a new world for the future models it was for me too! I saw beautiful creations on the catwalk! I really liked the collection of Dutch designer Addy van den Krommenacker! This collection was ready to wear which is very nice to see from a designer. The last picture is his creations. http://www.addyvandenkrommenacker.com

I also liked Qalanjo. It’s a African/Somali clothing line that is modernized in traditional clothing. It was very beautiful to see the link between high fashion and culture. They did it very well! http://www.qalanjofashion.com

On my instagram: SaidaChahid you can look at the video I took of the QALANJO African collection!

I wish the winners a bright future! Curious who won? Visit Dutch Model Event facebookpage https://www.facebook.com/dutchmodelevent
