Lifestyle | Books From Donna.

A long time ago I devoured books. I loved to imagine myself in the world of the main characters from the book. When I was reading I forgot the time and my surroundings. I miss those days! Today I’m sharing with you Loves that I started to read again.

IMG_3494

One of my goals of 2016 is to read more, so I started again with where I left off. On page 491 of the book The Secret History by Donna Tartt. The author from Mississippi has truly written a master piece. The book revolves around Richard Papen, his decision to leave his boring fictitious hometown; Plano California and to study Greek language and culture at Hampden College. Richard – son of a simple gas station attendant – romanticizes his wealthy and arrogant fellow students. Which is only five: Henry, the twins Charles and Camilla, Francis and Bunny. Their friendship is not a friendship that you are used to. It is a friendship full of secrets and murder. The more you read the eager you get to know why.

I must say, some parts of the book make me shiver and asking myself; how on earth can you be so evil! The mask they all put on is horrible, friendship shouldn’t be like this. How far can you go in a friendship?

Her writing style intrigued me to continue reading. I can’t wait to read in her other book; The Little Friend. It’s hard to explain but I’m sure Loves that you understand what I mean. Which author gives you this feeling too?

Leren Connor, she surprised me again! Her artistic expression I can see again in her festival collection. Her originality and attention to detail proves to be her trademark which I truly appreciate. When I see this collection the first thing that comes to my mind is happiness. The typical festival mood laid back and relaxed. Skirts from strips of fabric, tulle and crop tops anything goes!

”Over the last few months, Leren Connor and the team have taken a dramatic turn on the route to achieving their goals through the fashion industry and now the Festival scene.

This year LerenHQ Has spent a lot of time getting to know the Comic Convention industry which has also enticed the start of costume design through both Leren Connor and GYGO (get your geek on) the sister brand. Taking a step back from usual routine and embarking on a new path this small independent label has been making some big steps in all the right places.

So much has changed and due to this the team is thoroughly excited about the next year to come. Back in 2012 Leren attended her 1st Festival “Wilderness” as a trader, from this the team has been eager to get stuck in with the festival scene, this year it happened. At the end of August this label travelled down south to attend Into the Wild Festival, with the designs selling like hot cakes Leren is even more determined to get the Festival wear out there. Festivals are a great way to express costume design as well which is why it will also be a great marketing place for GYGO the sister brand which specializes in geek wear and costume design.

80% of what this label does is recycled and upcycled, the free fabric skirts and headbands you see are made from all the scraps collected in the Leren Connor studio.”

Her hold on environmentally friendly design also applies to this collection and that makes it yet again unique. You can see that she loves what she makes and it also radiates from her collections.

The growth she is experiencing is noticed. Hard work really pays off. Her devotion will bring her to high places that she deserves. We will hear from her again!

Do you love this collection as much as I do?

We all have those days that you look at yourself in the mirror to self-reflect. To think about the choices you have made it the past and going to make in the future. There will be a time that you’ll say to yourself ‘’enough is enough, you need to change.’’ Or you would say ‘’I am proud at where I am, I need to continue.’’

Everything happens for a reason, as well as with my blog. I don’t want to make excuses because it would not bring back the lost time. This is me, explaining why it was quiet for a while. As you all know I went on a holiday to Morocco, my country. I was full of energy about it and believe me when I say I enjoyed every bit of it. There were slightly troubles with having an internet connection whereby I could not blog for couple of days. When the problem was fixed I blogged and felt very happy about it because I had a lot of inspiration! Then the problem came back and it could not get fixed! I was so upset about it! Eventually I’ve accepted because I must.

The silence gave me time to think about myself. To self-reflect. I don’t know about you Loves but vacay to me is relaxing and detoxing! Not only on health but also mentally and spiritually. And I have noticed that blogging wasn’t my first priority. I had mixed feelings about it and quit blogging crossed my mind. I felt so sad….

I also noticed that I’m a bad planner. Believe me when I say: I have many planners that I write on but yet it always seems that something comes between my plans and it is so frustrating that I feel that nothing comes to an end or I’m wasting my time!

Bear with me Loves; I’m changing myself to be better at planning and blogging. I hope you’ll have the patience because I’m coming back!

Fashion Sketch By Me | Nature Love.

IMG_1829

I’ve noticed that it has been a while since I sketched. My portfolio was not up to date at all and I decided to work on it.

The first thing I wanted to do is to get inspiration so I surfed the web and flipped through many fashion magazines. I saw a lot of beautiful pieces that caught my eye but I truly found my peace with the nature ones. When I saw the nature pictures on the web I instantly saw how the dress would look like! So I started to sketch.

I’m very pleased how they turned out. It is exactly what I had in mind! I even noticed that I’m growing in my sketches. It is more detailed than before.  I enjoyed every bit of it and told myself I should pick it up more!

What do you think Loves?

Lifestyle | When Are You An Artist?

IMG_1819

IMG_1820

I must confess; I don’t paint, write, sketch or draw all the time. Sometimes days or even months go by and I did not lift a finger on a paintbrush or a pencil. Just like the paper stays blanc so does my mind.

Sometimes I ask myself; what do you call yourself, it seems you have all the possibilities that comes with creativity? And I always end up with the same answer; I’m not an artist. I’m someone who enjoys to be creative. I can find joy in many true artist like Picasso and Moroccan artists like Abdelhadi Mourid and Samira Ait el Maalam. I am fascinated by abstract art but abhorrence art which is being hailed as a creative explosion; what is so creative about a blanc canvas or only a dot on a canvas that costs thousands of euros? Don’t get me wrong, every person sees art the way he or she wants to see it. But this seems to me absurd! I guess that’s why I don’t call myself an artist because a true artist don’t judge right? But then again what is wrong in being vanilla in the artist world? Isn’t art supposed to be a form of freedom?

Even though I don’t paint or have the chance to work on my creativity due to many reasons, when I have a reason I enjoy every bit of it and I hope that you all Loves keep enjoying the thing you love to do. Because no matter what comes between your thing that you love, remember how you feel about it! Don’t let someone tell you otherwise.

Lifestyle Tip | Picture Perfect!

IMG_1430 DSC01345 DSC01346

My blogpost about it’s a (Hard Knock) Bloggers Life was a success (whoop!), so I want to share with you all Loves, how you can make that perfect (product) picture!

First, having time to do it is very important. Don’t rush into it! Having a good camera is also a good start. Don’t worry; it doesn’t have to be a very expensive one. Reading the instructions brings you already closer to how to use the camera properly.

My holy grail is a white background! It makes my pictures brighter, the products the centre point and it looks instantly more professional! Do you prefer another background, then this tip comes in handy: search on Google an background, for example Bokeh, save it and enlarge the picture on your computer. Stack magazines in front the screen place your product on it, take your position and click!

Place your products the way you want. Keep in mind which kind off product needs to be in the centre and match sizes with each other. Combine colours! This works perfect for flat lays. Mix and match the colour of your products, it makes it attractive to look at the picture. Unconsciously you go to the perfect looking shelving in stores to buy products. Why not with pictures?

To make it more picture perfect, use decoration! That’s the beauty of décor, you can use everything! From flowers to beads to vases to stones! Everything is possible just don’t exaggerate! You don’t want to take away the attention from the product.

Use your instinct and first thoughts, it is usually already perfect!

Lifestyle Motivation | It’s a (Hard Knock) BLOGGERSLIFE!

I blog for a year now (YAY!) and I love every bit of it! However blogging comes with his proceeding that for a blogger always ends in satisfying results. But before we get there we bloggers go through all lot of ups and downs. Yes, downs too.

As an example, I have sometimes troubles by having a lack of inspiration which can results in days without posting a blogpost. If this happens to me, I feel disappointed. I have this feeling because I want my Loves to hear and read something from me. I also have to accept this because the last thing I want to do is writing a blogpost that has no depth or is an ‘’quick blog shot’’ a post that’s written compulsory. I’d rather have a good post then a bad one.

I’m a bit of a perfectionist. Before I post something on my blog I check my words on a Word Note trough the spell check and translate words in Google translate. This takes time, which again can result in a blogpost that I worked hours on that I ‘’forget’’ I have other things to do too. Decisions have to be taken and nothing is as satisfying as a scale effect. Your time and pursuits equivalent shared!

Enough with the downs! As I said, I love blogging and getting recognized is to me a cherry on a pie! Reading comments and seeing likes on a blogpost are prizes to me. The interaction gives me a great feeling. I, a blogger from all the bloggers in the world interact with people all over the world, how amazing is that? A LOT!

Getting recognized by other bloggers and companies to work with each other is to me a reunite of creative people that results in a creative explosion! What more do I want as a blogger?

The advice I want to give you Loves is, follow your heart! Find a way that works for you to reach your own goals. Try to get out of your comfort zone and explore. Yes, it can be scary sometimes but at the end it’s worth it!

Lifestyle | Art Is A Relieve!

IMG_0136 IMG_0724

As you all know me I am a creative bee. It’s been a while since I took a pencil or a paintbrush to paint or to draw. I blame it on the lack of time but to be honest I have a lack of inspiration.

We all know those hectic days that turns in weeks and months that you eventually just stop do anything and you waste your time on doing nothing productive during the days and at the end when you go asleep you say to yourself ‘’another day goes by and you did nothing’’ you got slightly disappointed and then you fall asleep with a sigh. Who doesn’t know those days?

To remind myself that I come at peace with painting and drawing I dragged myself to my artwork and I was slightly happy to see what I made!

Each art piece has a meaning to me that I don’t share, I mostly let people around me give their own point of views. So tell me what do you see?
